What photography styles do you shoot in?
I like to shoot in several different styles of wedding photography (such as journalistic , traditional formal,) as I feel this enables us to get the best shot and visual story of your wedding for you. I will try to accommodate a particular preference if you wish.
How do you approach the photography on the day?
My aim is to capture your wedding day in the best way possible whilst letting the day flow. I spend time with you beforehand to discuss the venue and work out what you would like from the photography. I’ll work the shots into your schedule, and can help advise you with photography timings and proceedings from 4 years of wedding photography experience.
What is included in the day?
This depends on the package chosen and will be confirmed prior to the day.
I can cover the preparations at the bride’s house, the groom and family at the ceremony beforehand, the guests arriving, the bride arriving, discrete shots of the ceremony, the signing of the register, the couple leaving, group shots of the immediate families and a private moment with just the couple, shots at the reception including guests mingling, the cutting of the cake, the speeches, toasts and the first dance. I generally do not photograph the guests whilst eating. This is normally when I would leave to have a break.
Do you photograph civil partnerships?
Yes; to me, civil partnerships are no different to weddings. If you’re in love, I’ll shoot your big day.
Can I get a wedding album or prints made up?
Most of my packages include an album but If you do need an extra or you need to upgrade from your Disc only package, albums and prints packages are available out with package prices. Please ask for individual prices.
Are you a full-time photographer?
Yes , this is my only job since studying for 3 years in professional photography at Reid Kerr. I have been doing professional wedding photography for the last 4 years. I work alone and its only myself that will be photographing your wedding, I will not sent someone else to do my work as some photographers do.
Do you travel?
Yes, I am based in the west of Scotland. However I can travel nationwide. Travelling costs may apply. But I do cover central Scotland, Ayrshire, Glasgow and Argyll with no extra fee.
Do you shoot digital or film?
I shoot in 18.0 megapixel digital with canon equipment.
Can I keep our negatives / files?
Yes – I supply all the edited digital files as high resolution (300dpi) .jpgs on DVD ready for printing.
Do I have to sign a contract?
I use a standard contract that ensures there is no misunderstanding between the couple and photographer on the agreed terms and conditions and the service which is being provided.
I recommend you take out wedding insurance and have written contracts with all major parties/ suppliers.
How many photographs will you take on the day?
There is no limit to the number of photographs I take - I will take as many pictures as there are opportunities. The quantity might depend on the size of your wedding, the location or the weather and the package you choose.
Do I get to keep all the pictures?
You get to keep a minimum amount of pictures stated within your package.
Do you take formal or group shots as well as natural?
Yes, I believe these are what make up the memories that matter in 20 years time.
What do you do about eating on the day?
Most of the time I will stay close by if possible and have dinner in the restaurant.
And am greatly appreciative if I’m fed
Who chooses the photos for the album?
You do! It would be presumptuous of me to select your favourites - I might not know which of your family and friends you'd like to feature. I am very happy to advise you though if you have trouble deciding.
How long does it take to make the album?
Once I have received your choice of images for inclusion in the album I design the layouts, which are then sent to you as a jpeg files via email to review and make changes if required. Once the design is finalised it normally takes a further 4 weeks for printing and mounting.
How can our wedding guests view or order the photographs?
Your wedding will be hosted in the ‘colorworldimagepartner’ within 8 weeks of the wedding. A link will be sent to your email address leading to the online shop front.
How do I book you?
After your initial enquiry for your wedding date is approved. Please complete a booking form and return this with a booking fee/retainer of £50 to secure your date. I receive more enquiries per year than there are days available and this means I am unable to provisionally hold any date without payment of the booking fee. All dates are booked on a first come first served basis.
How long does the photography take?
I ask that you allow up to two hours after the ceremony for allotted photography to take place. This may seem extreme however it’s often underestimated how long group shots and couple shots can take.
What if I don’t like my photograph being taken?
I often find that the couples who tell me, when we first meet, that they do not generally like their photos being taken, actually enjoy the wedding photography on the day. I have a fun and relaxed approach and am confident of capturing you at your best which helps to put you at ease and enjoy the photography. There is a big difference between having your photo taken by a professional as opposed to what you might have experienced with photos taken by friends or family. I also provide you with a range of photos so that there will be plenty of styles and expressions to choose from. I can offer an engagement photo shoot which allows you to relax in front of the camera before the big day.
Who are the photographers who will take our photographs?
I am the only photographer within this company and it will be me that will be with you on the day.
I do not sub contract wedding bookings to other photographers.
Do you do your own printing?
No but I control the quality of all the digital files for best colour and tone, with regularly colour calibrated technology. I work closely with a professional photography lab for consistently high quality photographic printing results. The time, care and attention to detail ensure you get great photos. By using a professional lab I ensure that the printed photos have the best chance of long term life without undue fading.
What digital manipulation do you perform?
I aim to offer you authentic images that are true to the original moment captured. The beauty and flair of the images is achieved in the way I take the original photo - by using the light, location, pose and composition rather than digital tricks.
I ensure that the digital quality controls of colour balance and tonal range are checked and adjusted to get the most pleasing result. Images may sometimes be ‘tidied’ if necessary - which may mean a slight softening of lines or skin blemishes where desirable.
As an additional option, to the original image, I may also present digitally enhanced photographs with artistic effects. At your request, I may also modify images to create a new photo, for example combining people from different photos.
Can I check feedback from other customers?
Yes, I receive a great deal of positive feedback from my customers. You can view some of their comments in the testimonial section of the website. If you wish to email one off my many clients I can supply contact information for references.
Do you carry spare equipment?
Yes, I carry back up cameras and equipment, so that if ever a camera developed a fault I would have a fall back system ready to go.
What if I want photos in the future?
I archive all the original images and keep backup copies for security. I intend to keep these images indefinitely so that you can come back for reprints many years after your wedding.
